We have a new IT organization in our midst… the “Magic City Technology Council.” The group is set to formally kick off in February 2006, but will have an in-person Welcome Meeting next Tuesday at 6:30 pm on Monday, November 15, 2005 at the Entrepreneurial Center, 110 12th Street North.
Their website includes the following text:
- Welcome to the Magic City Technology Council. A platform for all IT and Software Engineering/Development Professionals in Birmingham, AL. and Surrounding Areas. MTC promotes better IT, Engineering, Development and Project Management Practices. After years of experience in the industry, the founders of this organization felt that out of all disciplines engineering practices are always left out as an extra effort that may or may not influence ROI. It is an effort, but one that will provide structured environments for success of IT Projects. After all, why do we see a LOT of IT Projects with cost overrun or not achieving completion at all? We have business leadership; we need technological leadership and lay down the path of a better IT Infrastructure for Birmingham’s and Alabama’s future.
Congratulations to the group for stepping up to fill a need in the tech community. Look for information about upcoming meetings on this blog and in the TechBirmingham monthly e-newsletter.
