In case you haven’t heard through other channels such as the weekly advertisements this month in the Birmingham Business Journal, the application deadline for the Birmingham Venture Club’s Entrepreneurs’ Accelerator program is this Friday, August 25. Visit www.birminghamventure.com to find all of the program details and downloadable application. According to the Venture Club’s website, the mission of the program is:
“To equip the most promising entrepreneurs in the Birmingham area with the knowledge, access to resources and ongoing mentoring relationships that are essential to establishing and rapidly growing successful businesses.”
This program has been designed for twelve of Birmingham’s top entrepreneurs to accelerate the business network and knowledge required to grow their companies. “Entrepreneurs” are defined broadly to include founders of companies, individuals who are planning start-up businesses, and other individuals who have high potential to play key roles in building successful businesses.
A kick-off event for the 2006 Entrepreneur Accelerator Program will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006. The program will conclude at the Birmingham Venture Clubs 2006 Annual Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at which time the graduates of the program will be presented to the investment community. Between those two events, the program will consist of weekly or bi-weekly meetings on dates to be announced covering topics such as, but not limited to, market validation, product or service development, preparing business plans, raising capital, building management teams and boards of directors, and sales, marketing and advertising. Historically, each class will commence on a Friday at noon with lunch, followed by a period of instruction by an expert on the relevant subject matter, a hands-on workshop, and a panel discussion by local and regional experts on the relevant subject matter. Each class will conclude with a cocktail reception that will end around 6pm.
Led by former Venture Club President, James W. Childs, Jr. of Bradley Arant Rose & White and Curtis Palmer, President of TechBirmingham, this high caliber program is for serious (and serial) entrepreneurs that want to add value significant value to their companies. Self nominations are encouraged, so don’t be shy!
