Vienna, Austria, February 16, 2007 –Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) announced today that its speech recognition-based document creation platform SpeechMagic will be integrated with CareRevolution from Electronic Healthcare Systems (EHS). CareRevolution, powered by SpeechMagic, will ensure the faster availability of accurate medical data in electronic medical records (EMR). Currently more than 4,000 physicians use CareRevolution to run their practices more effectively and profitably. By upgrading to Philips industrial grade document creation technology the physicians will be able to choose their preferred dictation and transcription workflow for greater flexibility, mobility and efficiency. The system can be experienced live at the Philips booth #6137, HIMSS 2007 (New Orleans, Feb. 25 to Mar. 1st, 2007).
CareRevolution, powered by SpeechMagic, will support digital dictation, backend and frontend speech recognition, giving healthcare facilities total control over their document creation workflow. The system is fully flexible, allowing physicians to individually choose their preferred dictation workflow and easily switch between the various transcription methods at any time. SpeechMagic will also allow physicians to navigate and control the EMR through voice commands, eliminating the distractions of keyboard or mouse.
“Drawing on its unique expertise, SpeechMagic is instrumental in realizing the healthcare industry’s ground-breaking document creation projects,” said Martin Eberhart, Sales Manager North America for Philips Speech Recognition Systems. “The technology runs the world’s largest healthcare speech recognition sites and is used by countries viewed as early adopters of electronic medical records, such as Norway and Spain. Benefiting from this specialized integration know-how, EHS will be able to provide its customers with a solution that fully delivers on the efficiency, security and accuracy policies of healthcare documentation.”
CareRevolution was developed by EHS to boost efficiency in medical practices and to stimulate a more profitable workflow in one single, point-of-care solution. The solution was nationally recognized as the winner of the first Towards the Electronic Patient Record (TEPR) Pediatric EHR Recognition Program.
“EHS now provides a true one-stop solution for physicians seeking holistic clinical and financial solutions”, says Sandy Pitman, CEO, EHS. “The market continues to demand more innovative and diverse methods for capturing clinical documentation. Seamlessly integrated speech recognition features will offer another alternative for our users to create clinical documentation in EHS. By offering industrial grade document creation technology for our users, we will facilitate fast treatment and support physicians in their efforts to deliver high quality, accurate and timely healthcare services.”
Using the document creation platform SpeechMagic, hospitals can increase productivity and reduce administration costs. The over 8,000 installations of SpeechMagic worldwide include hospital- and region-wide deployments in the United States and Europe.
