Regift Your Old Computers This Friday! (June 29th)

TechBirmingham Ecycling Day 2007

Friday, June 29nd from 11am-6pm

Have old computers, cellphones, and other electronic junk sitting around your office, home, or storage room/facility??? On Friday, June 29 from 11am – 6pm, the public is asked to drop off any (un)used computers, laptops, cell phones and a number of other accepted items to Vulcan Park to be “ecycled.” A truck will be located in the lower parking lot. Volunteers will be onsite to assist in the unloading of equipment. No need to worry about the heat of the day because donors won’t have to get out of their cars!

Organized by TechBirmingham, this “ecycling” drive will be staged on Friday to allow residents in the Birmingham region to responsibly recycle their used electronic equipment.

    Accepted items include:

  • Desktop computers
  • Laptop computers
  • Computer monitors
  • Keyboards
  • Printers
  • Scanners
  • Digital cameras
  • Game systems
  • Input devices
  • Printer cartridges (laser and inkjet)
  • Cell phones
  • PDAs and handheld devices

While most of the items received will be recycled and demanufactured, some will be refurbished. Many usable desktop computers will be refurbished and redistributed to select community-based computer learning centers whose programs would benefit from an additional supply of computers.

Our key operational partner for this event is Electronics Recycling Services, USA, a company who now recycles and demanufactures this type of computing equipment year-round out of Norcross, Ga. For more information about electronics recycling in Birmingham, see www.EcyclingDay.org.

Please note that no televisions, home/kitchen electronics, or hazardous materials can be accepted.
