Smith of Intermark Interactive Receives Foundation Level Tester Professional Certification

(Birmingham, Ala.) – Wes Smith, an Intermark Interactive quality assurance manager, has earned the designation of Foundation Level Tester by the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB).  Approximately only 50,000 software testers currently hold ISTQB compliant certificates.

By obtaining this certification, Smith distinguishes himself as a true test professional who studies the field, applies fundamental and sophisticated test techniques and understands the important issues.  He is qualified to help project and technology managers make important decisions that balance quality, feature, schedule, and budget consideration.

Businesses rely on software test professionals to detect defects that others miss and save employers and clients from costly and embarrassing failures.

“This certificate puts a stamp of excellence on the quality of software tested by Wes,” said Jake McKenzie, President of Intermark Interactive.  “An organization can provide time and money, but it really requires motivation and discipline on the part of the staff. Wes Smith is a great example of that.”

It is estimated that the U.S. economy loses $60 billion per year due to software defects.

Software and systems include things such as computers, iPods, entertainment centers, car parts, and refrigerators.

Smith hopes to use his Foundation Level Certification, which tests for knowledge of the testing process, as a stepping stone to obtain his Advance Level Certification, which examines a person’s testing skills.

The ASTQB is a non-profit organization composed of highly experienced experts in software testing who volunteer their time to the development, maintenance, and promotion of The International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certified Tester program in the U.S.  The only company that offers courses in ITQSB certification is Rex Black Consulting Services, Inc.

ISTQB is composed of representatives from each existing national board, such as the ASTQB. The ISTQB decides on the standards for certification and accreditation as an ISTQB accredited training provider. Working parties within the ISTQB are responsible for developing and maintaining the Foundation and Advanced Level syllabi and exams. The ISTQB Certified Tester program provides certification for software testers internationally.
